ewwwwwwww!

you know how sometimes you see something gross either in real life, or a picture, and you just can't get it out of your head? and it grosses you out but it just won't go away?

my first memory of something like that happening was when i was about 5 or 6. my grandma took my brother and me for a walk. we were coming up to a dog on the side of the highway that had obviously been hit by a car. my grandma clearly said "don't look!" and she and my brother turned their heads the opposite way. me, being the curious girl that I was, I looked. and for a long time, I couldn't get that image of the "dead dog with its teeth knocked out" out of my head. (yes, that's what i called it--it's teeth were literally separated from its mouth just lying there on the highway, pretty gruesome!)

well once again i have been cursed with something i wish i had NEVER ever seen. Thanks to my friends Summer and Melis, who both have trypophobia --yes it's a real fear-- i have been cursed with this image. Click here if you dare, but you have been forewarned. The link I posted is not as terrible as the original picture that I first saw, which you will see if you click "read more" at the end of the paragraph. Maybe I feel that it's not fair for me to have been cursed with this and not share it with someone else lol. It seriously makes me want to throw up.

Is it bad?

Is it bad that my 21 month old exclaims "coke!coke!" whenever he sees anything red and/or in a bottle. Bottled water is coke, a can of tomato sauce is coke, and especially COKE, is coke.

Is it bad that when I tell him "no sir!" he tells me "yes sir!" ????

Project Get Eli to Sleep In His Own Bed

So since we moved his bed to his room, he slept in there for half the night on day 26. Then last night, day 27, it was a game. I put him in there, he came out. I put him back and closed the door. He cries and Daddy lets him out. He falls asleep on the couch watching Daddy play xbox. I put him in his room and I go to bed. He wakes up and Daddy brings him and puts him in bed with me. And just how is that teaching him to sleep in his own bed?????

Project Get Eli to Sleep In His Own Bed

Day 23: no real progress to speak of. Has slept in his bed all night about three times, and taken 3-4 naps. I give him a U for Unsatisfactory.

Staying Ahead of the Game

I was on the ball this week and cooked up a bunch of meals Sunday and Monday so I didn't have too much to do for the rest of the week. I love doing that b/c then I don't have to wash loads of dishes all week long and all we have to do is reheat stuff from the fridge. Even with tacos, you can cook the meat like 2-3 days before, and all you have to do is microwave it the night you want to eat it. It sure will come in handy when I go back to work!

Eli's baboo

Yes, Eli now has a baby doll. He calls her baboo. For those who are totally clueless, a baboo is totally different than a shoodoo. Baby doll= baboo, stuffed animal= shoodoo. He has a very special shoodoo that his little friend Paige sent to him all the way from Wales! But this is his very first baboo. He found this doll in Anniston's room. MeMe had bought it for her a while back. She has her very own pacifier and Eli likes giving it to her. He even took her to bed with him the other night. Corey is not thrilled with this idea and wants me to "ditch" baboo. I think it's cute that he is taking care of her so I will let him keep her for now.

being blissfully domestic on a budget

this week has been hard a little challenging. the half a paycheck corey got last pay period didn't stretch two full weeks. we ended up having to overdraw the account just to put gas in the truck to take anniston back home. we had to eat odds and ends from the cabinet, making some very unusual meals. i think b/t the three of us we've had scrambled eggs for 4-5 different meals lol. we still have two more days to go before payday rolls around again and i'm really debating spending my CVS extra bucks on a loaf of bread and a 2 liter coke. i decided to share some things you can throw together when you don't have much in the fridge or in the bank:

1-fried rice. a fave of mine, even when i'm not broke. so simple and good. cook some white rice and let cool (if you have leftover rice in fridge that works well) it's important for the rice to be cooled before starting. melt about 1/4 cup - 1/2 cup butter in a skillet, scramble one egg per cup of cooked rice. when the egg is cooked, add in the rice. stir in some soy sauce and salt. these are all ingredients that i usually have even when i have nothing. if you have meat or veggies you can add those but i personally like it plain.

2-cheese quesadillas. i always keep tortillas in the freezer, stock up on them when they are on sale. use cooking spray or butter in a skillet, sandwich shredded cheese b/t two tortillas and brown in skillet. makes a great snack! also, you can add meat or veggies if you like--chicken or ground beef, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes. good with sour cream and salsa.

3-mac n cheese. we USUALLY have a couple boxes of mac n cheese.....you can slice hot dogs or add cooked ground beef to turn it into more of a meal than a side dish.

OR you can do what i've been doing the past few days--eat pickles and cupcakes. those are two things that we ALWAYS have in the house lol.

meal plan (not monday LOL)

i will start back with the regular monday post but for now:

tuesday--for us: cheese quesadillas
for corey: italian shells and cheese hamburger helper
wednesday--for us: brisket, mashed potatoes and gravy
for corey: hamburger steak, rice and gravy
thursday--for us: fried rice
for corey: find something in fridge night
friday--hot wings and potatoes o'brien w/ cheese
saturday--bbq'ing with friends
sunday--cheesy hashbrown hamburger helper

Since Corey is now working night shift I sometimes feed him leftovers or something quick from the fridge that he can stick in the microwave when he gets home at 5am. Eli and I usually snack on something light. On weekends when Corey is home, we have "real meals" (and more dirty dishes BLAH!)

Project Get Eli To Sleep In His Own Bed

Day One: failed. majorly.

Might I add that when he's actually sleeping, he looks so innocent and peaceful. So lovey-dovey and cute. And suddenly he's a little cuddly baby again, and not a rambunctious toddler doing acrobatics off the furniture. I can snuggle up with him and smell his signature scent of lotion/cookies/pee and I just love that smell, believe it or not! So the so-far unsuccess of the project I will take partial blame for. Because after all, I know good and well that when he is truely sleeping, when he lets his pacifier fall out, I could move him to his bed. Maybe I will try that one tonight. So here he is, king of my bed.

And here is his bed, obviously unslept in.
