we played at the fountain today. i told anniston not to get in, but she accidently "fell" in. i tried not to get upset and just kept snapping. eli loved the water. he has a new tooth coming in at the top and he had been screaming off and on all day. he never made a peep the whole time we were at the fountain. he is definitely an outdoors boy!

Here is my new toy. I have had the camera body for about a week now but could not use it until today when my lens was delivered. I cannot thank my husband enough for using our income tax return $$ to buy it for me. I have never bought something this expensive with cash, I have always been a credit card junkie. But those days are over. I have made a lot of sacrifices to be able to stay home with Eli. I haven't bought anything extra for myself in a really really long time.

Logan's Obituary

Logan Kelly Jeffers, 7 1 / 2- month-old son of Melly and Evan Jeffers, died peacefully in the arms of his parents Feb. 19, 2008.

Logan was born July 8, 2007, at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was a beautiful boy who touched the lives of everyone around him. His life was full of love. Logan enjoyed music and being read stories and books.

He is survived by his parents, Melly and Evan Jeffers of Lowell, AR. Grandparents Leanna and Steve Lane of Ft. Smith, AR, and Sandy and Larry Jeffers of Rogers, AR. Great-grandparents Peg and Robert Reist of Ft. Myers, FL. And Lois and Len Nunnick of Ft. Smith, AR. Aunt Tania Forkner of Tulsa, OK. Aunt Kay and Uncle Randy Seeley and Cousin Taylor of Siloam Springs, AR. Godparents Kelly and Jeremy Mock of Lowell, AR. Special family Kelly, Michelle and Jeremy Quarles, Waylon Hinshaw, Christina and Charlie Wishon, Megan and Kyle Oxford, Amber and Thomas Montoya, Jody and Glen Larrison, Shawn and Melissa Larrison, Jayme and Paul DeJulius and Kathy Banister. Special Nurses Eileen Hinkle, Ellen Jacobs, Lakendra Watson, Kelly Blasak, Roberta Clark and Carol Elkins. A celebration of Logan's life will be held at The Magnolia Gardens Inn, 501 N Main St., Springdale, AR, at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008. Baby Logan died in his mom's lap two days ago. He was only 2 weeks older than Eli. He never left the NICU until he was 6 months old, and spent 3 weeks at home with his parents before going back to Arkansas Children's Hospital. This is the bulletin she sent out on myspace:

As many of you know, yesterday morning Logan, as bird who is caged, got his wings and flew away from this life.
It was a very peaceful passing. He died lying in my arms as I rocked him to sleep. He did not suffer or struggle but went very quickly and painlessly.
He was not surrounded by panic or chaos but instead I assured him that he did good and that I was proud of him for fighting for so long.
We had three wonderful weeks at home. Evan and I treasured every moment we had with Logan and we lived every day showering him with love and affection.

We just got home last night. I do not know anything about his memorial services but when I do I will be sending out that information.

I appreciate all your thoughts and prayers with our family at this moment.
It is a time of sorrow and loss but let us not forget to see the beauty in all things.

A bad day in the trenches...

You know it's a bad day when: Baby is happily bouncing in his Jolly Jumper, then spits up half his bottle all over the floor. And THEN, before you can get to it, he has bounced up and down in it several times. And THEN, while cleaning the floor and his feet, while he continues to bounce, you get whacked in the head by the cross-bar on the Jolly Jumper. And THEN, while leaning over with your hand to your head, another eruption of Mt. Spit-Up makes it way onto the top of your head, into your ponytail and down your back.

Good thing the little stinker's so loveable!

time flies...

wow i didn't realize how long it's been since i was on here! so much has been going on in the past few days. i had good intentions to do a valentine's photo shoot....i still will have to do something cute with eli, i gotta put SOMETHING in his scrapbook! unfortunately, we spent valentine's day (valentine's week actually) in the hospital. my poor little boy was so sick. i took him in to the ER Wednesday night b/c he was running a fever of 103 and not keeping any formula down. they did chest x-rays and bloodwork. they had such a hard time drawing blood, they tried veins in both feet, both hands, and both arms. it took 3 people and they blew two viens before they finally got one in his arm. he was pretty much hysterical at that point. then we found out the Flu A test came back positive. Dr. Sibley said that didn't necessarily mean he had flu (still not understanding that one?) but definitely he had a very bad respiratory infection. they said his white blood cell count was extremely high and admitted him to a room in the peds unit. respiratory therapists had to come in and give him breathing treatments every 3 hours. he was also on oxygen, IV fluids, and antibiotics.

on the second day i was able to give him 2 oz of pedialyte, that's all he had all day!! then Dr. Sibley made his rounds and said he could have some formula, but he still only drank 4 oz each feeding, and it seemed to me like he was already losing weight! MeMe came and stayed with him and let me go home and rest for a while.

on the 3rd day they took him off the oxygen and he was breathing all right. dr. sibley said if he had no fever and could stay off the oxygen for 24 hours he could go home. i finally broke down and went to the dr myself, it was so hard taking care of him when i was sick too! he put me on antibiotics and cough syrup and also (pink eye) conjunctivitis eye drops!

today (4th day) he was finally released! i know he was happy to have the IV removed, he had chewed on it the entire time! he has some ugly bruises from being stuck so many times, hopefully they will go away soon.

He is feeling a lot better now that we're home, but still has to have breathing treatments every 4 hours now, and is on antibiotics for the next 14 days. I am going to try to get his apetite back up. they weighed him in the ER at 18lbs 11oz, and we have a follow up appt on Monday so I will have them re-weigh to check out the situation. He is finally back on solids after 4 days, but still not eating near at much as he was before. I am wondering if I lost any weight too, I passed on a lot of the hospital food, I didn't have much of an apetite either, and the looks and smells of it didn't entice me much!
